Nurse Practitioner
Shelagh Larson is from Fort Worth, Texas. She received her BSN from UTMB. She has two great kids, Leigh (25) and Richard (23). She went back for her WHNP in 2003 and her Doctorate in Nurse Practice in 2018 both from Texas Woman’s University. She is a nationally certified menopause provider through NAMS. More recently she founded the first APP council in her hospital and was elected as the first non-physician to serve on the medical board. She is the co-founder of the inter-professional Menopause Clinic at JPS. Shelagh served as president of FWRNP for over 7 years. Where it was transformed from a dinner club to a thriving professional association that has raised thousands of dollars for scholarships, charity, and the TNP PAC. For TNP she served as the Area Representative, 5 years on the Government Action committee, four years of those as the chair, has presented in the past ten annual conferences. She currently serves on the TNP executive board in the position of secretary. She is on the TNP Policy Committee, inspiring the legislative ambassadors in north Texas. She is a TNP Legacy member. Shelagh is the north Texas AANP representative bridging state and national policy.

Presenting along with Dr. Nusrat Kahn, M.D. they will discuss and current guidelines for the screening, diagnosis, and
classification of dyslipidemia in adult primary care patients and lipid management in primary care.
Healthcare professional with 15 years of critical care experience as a Registered Nurse in Emergency Medicine, ICU, and Critical Care Transport. Strengths include strong organizational skills, team building, flexibility, facilitating change and leading by example. Successfully opened a new Freestanding ER and assisted with the opening of four others. Proficient with regulatory surveys/audits including initial Joint Commission Survey for Accreditation and CLIA/COLA Lab Surveys.

Pulmonary Hypertension Nurse Practitioner

With over 10 years in pulmonary hypertension she presents care of the patient with pulmonary hypertension. She has several poster presentations and authored an article "Strategies for PH Patients Transitioning to Long-Term Care". She is a member of the American Academy Nurse Practitioners, the Pulmonary Hypertension Care Center Review Committee, and the Pulmonary Hypertension Professional Network.

Dr. Nusrat Ali Khan, MD is a health care provider primarily located in Weatherford, TX, with another office in San Antonio, TX. He graduated from medical school in 1998 and has 27 years of experience. His specialties include Pediatrics, Internal Medicine. He has an MBA and CMQ, Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence, a certification offered by the American Society for Quality (ASQ).

Breaking Barriers: Integrating Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment Across Care Settings. I am originally from Alabama and bring over a decade of experience in the nursing field. I am a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and completed my Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of Texas in 2024. My clinical focus has been on enhancing access to compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care in underserved communities. Before joining the faculty at TCU, I served as a mental health provider in a large county hospital, where I spearheaded several quality improvement initiatives, including workplace violence prevention and increasing access to substance use treatment.
