TNP Entry to Practice: From RN to NP

TNP is offering a one-day conference for new or recent graduates of an NP program, as well as seasoned NPs who are looking for a refresher. The agenda includes: Application and Licensure Check List, Licensure and Prescriptive Authority, transitioning into the APRN Role - Panel Discussion, Coding, Billing and Charting, Don’t Become a Malpractice Case Study and Negotiating Contracts. This event will be held at the Embassy Suites in San Marcos. The hotel room rate is available until Friday, May 11, 2018. Registration is available through May 28, 2018. To register, click here.

Election Procedures If you are a regular, retired, or legacy member, be looking in your email for the TNP Board Election Ballot. The nominating committee has been busy vetting candidates and the board election will take place in early May and last day to vote is May 15. Please VOTE!

TNP Webinar - Tools for the NP: Addressing Maternal & Adolescent Health

As Texas looks to improve mental health care in the state, addressing adolescent and maternal mental health will be a priority concern for policymakers and providers alike. In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, join Christy Blanco (DNP, APRN, WHNP-BC) and Diana Martin (MSN, RN, PNP-C) for a webinar on mental health care in the pediatric and women’s health population, and discuss recent legislation on screening, provider tools and resources, and tips for medication management. Nominations are Open for NP of the Year

Each year, TNP selects a nurse practitioner of the year who has demonstrated excellence as an NP and as a role model for other nurse practitioners and the nursing profession in general. The nominee must be recognized as a nurse practitioner in Texas and a member of TNP for at least one year. For more information about the award criteria and nomination process, please click here.  Nominations are accepted from colleagues, clients, administrators or co-workers. In addition, NPs are encouraged to nominate themselves for this prestigious award. Nominations must be submitted by June 1, 2018 through the online nomination form found here.

The NP of the Year Award winner will be presented with the award at the TNP Annual Membership Meeting on Saturday, September 8 at the Sheraton in downtown Dallas.

The ASAM Fundamentals of Addiction Medicine – June 15

TNP is partnering with the American Society of Addictive Medicine to put on an 8-hour workshop that will be equal parts lecture, demonstration of skills and skill building. The Workshop will be in Austin at the Sheraton downtown. Register today!
