Dear NTNP Metro West,
I am excited to announce several upcoming events that may be of interest to your membership.
1. NP Week – November 10-16, 2013
Governor Perry has proclaimed that November 10-16, 2013 will be NP Week in Texas. Attached is a copy of the proclamation as well as a list of the top 20 things to do to celebrate NP Week.

2. TNP Legislative Academy – January 2014 – January 2015
TNP recently launched our first ever Legislative Academy.   This unique opportunity will give participants firsthand knowledge of the legislative process and more importantly, will help us to accomplish our legislative goals.  To make the program successful, we need your help

The TNP Board of Directors, in coordination with our staff and lobby team, has developed a specific list of legislators from which we hope to build long-lasting relationships.  To do this, we need your affiliate to help recruit nurse practitioners to participate in the Academy.  In addition, we hope that you will also provide two “scholarships” for participants that live within a targeted legislative district.
If you will agree to joining this effort, please contact David Williams to begin identifying and pairing nurse practitioners with target legislators. In addition, more information including an application can be found at Please note that if individuals are not a member of TNP – no worries – the academy non-member registration fee for the academy comes with a full year of TNP Membership!
3. NP Affiliate Leadership Day – January 11, 2014
The responsibilities of serving on a board or in a leadership capacity has increased. As a result, TNP is pleased to provide an opportunity for board development to our local affiliates as well as any NP who is interested in leadership positions in the future. This one-day leadership session will be held at the Embassy Suites in San Marcos, Texas (near the large outlet mall). We hope that many members will take advantage of this program and use this opportunity to network with other affiliates and develop future leaders for their association. I hope that your group will consider participating in all of these events. Also, if you would like to have a TNP executive committee member attend one of your upcoming meetings, please contact Emily Eastin at
Thank you for all that you do.
